Cody is originally from Chatham, Virginia, and currently resides in Johnson City, Tennessee. He attended Chatham schools throughout his childhood before transferring to Dan River High School during his sophomore year. He later transferred to William Campbell High School for his junior and senior years, where he graduated. Cody has played baseball his entire life and has been a catcher since he was around 10 years old. He joined the junior varsity baseball team as an eighth grader and earned a starting position on the varsity team during his sophomore year before the season was cut short due to COVID-19. He also began playing golf in the eighth grade and was named captain of both the baseball and golf teams during his senior year.

Cody is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Sport Management at East Tennessee State University. During his time at ETSU, he helped establish the Club Baseball program and served as Vice President during the club’s inaugural year. In this role, he assisted with the organization’s development, recruiting, and day-to-day operations.
