District Playoffs Day 2 Recap

District I: In an extra inning thriller, Dickinson tied the score with two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning and then punched their ticket to the championship game with Henry Heard’s walkoff double in the ninth verus Hofstra! They will face Lehigh after the Mountain Hawks held off a furious five run rally by Hofstra in the bottom of the seventh that ultimately came up just short.

District II: 4-seed Craven CC completed their Cinderella run as they became the first team to punch their ticket to Butler for the World Series! The Panthers defeated Richmond in the championship 6-4 after the Spiders fought through the losers bracket with two wins in the morning.

District III: The Saginaw Valley bats powered the Cardinals out of the loser’s bracket with a 10-6 win over Carnegie Mellon and then a 13-3 onslaught of conference rival John Carroll. They will face Robert Morris in the championship tomorrow.

District IV: Winona State defeated UW – Stevens Point in the winners bracket by a score of 10-5 but the Pointers will have their chance at revenge tomorrow in the championship after defeating DePaul in the losers bracket.
