RAWLINGS WEEK 21 TOP TEN POLL

TOP TEN RECAP:

NUMBER ONE: George Mason (12-2, 9-1) finished off their season atop the District II North, earning 4 out of 5 first place votes. The Patriots punched their ticket to the District II Playoff where they await the second place finisher out of the South.

BIGGEST RISER: The Drake Bulldogs (10-4, 10-4) go from unranked all the way to No. 6 in this week’s poll! The Bulldogs took 2 out of 3 from previous No. 2 Loyola Chicago to win the District IV South in their debut season.

BIGGEST FALL: Loyola Chicago (12-7, 9-3) drops from No. 2 to No. 9 after dropping two non-conference games to MSOE and their big conference series to Drake.

NEWCOMERS: Three new teams jump into the rankings this week as the playoff picture takes shape. As previously mentioned, Drake debuts at No. 6 for their first ranking in club history. Winona State comes in at No. 8 after clinching the District IV North. Dickinson also rejoins the rankings at No. 10 after locking up the District I West championship.

KEY UPCOMING MATCHUPS:

Week 22: MSOE (5-6, 3-6) at UW – Eau Claire (5-7, 5-4) – The Raiders look to play the spoilers as the Blugolds need a sweep to clinch a spot in the District IV Playoff.

Week 22: Lafayette (4-4, 4-4) at Lehigh (7-5, 7-3) – The second playoff spot out of the District I East comes down to the final weekend between two rivals separated by a mere twenty minutes in eastern PA.

Week 22: #5 Carnegie Mellon (10-3, 8-1) at Duquesne (6-3, 6-3) – The No. 5 Tartans look to keep the cross-town rival Dukes out of the playoffs with just this one game remaining on both teams schedules.

The next Division III Poll will be released on May 1st.
